    Bruce’s Chapel Church had 44 in attendance on Sunday morning. Bro. Preston McKnight’s devotional was from Proverbs 4:13-27. Bro. Mike Edwards had children’s sermon from John 10:10. Bro. Creech Richardson’s message “Know Who You Are” was from Luke 15. Sunday night attendance was 15. Bro. Creech‘s message “Somebody Touched Me” was from Luke 8:4. Margaret Trowbridge celebrated her Birthday. Next Sunday night will be KY. Night for the youth with Angie Meeks at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

    Week of Jan. 9, 2008

    A Liberty man who was struck by a vehicle that smashed into Dairy Mart in 2007 filed suit against the car’s driver and the business. Mark Wesley, through his attorney, Robert L. Bertram of Jamestown, filed the civil lawsuit in Casey Circuit Court. Named as defendants were Barbara Allen, Wesley’s mother of 1394 Red Hill Road, Liberty, and Dairy Mart owners Danny Lee and Dana Lee, of 437 North Wallace Wilkinson Boulevard, Liberty.

    Week of Jan. 2, 2008

    A Casey County man was jailed without bond Friday after officers raided his home, arresting him on drug charges.

    Shortly after Abbie Streeval took the coveted title as Casey County Junior Miss in August she began preparing to represent her hometown.

    When students return to Jones Park Elementary and Casey County Middle schools after the Christmas holiday, they will notice that there have been some changes in administration during the break.

    More than 100 were surrendered to Dog Warden Ricky Luttrell and the Taylor County Animal Shelter from a residence in the South Fork Community.

    After more than five months working for the Liberty/Casey County Chamber of Commerce, Executive Director Anita Skaggs resigned. Skaggs submitted her resignation Dec. 11 to the chamber, but said her time in position has been memorable.

    With Santa hats on their head and bells in their hands, siblings Seth and Rita Dixon stood outside the entrance to Pamida on Saturday, encouraging shoppers to remember those this Christmas season who may not be as fortunate as they are.

    A leak in a low-pressure gas line at the city’s natural gas station facility on Whipp Avenue caused the area of the street from Trammel to Allen streets to be evacuated.

    A Kentucky State Trooper charged with reckless homicide in the death of an Adair County man was acquitted Thursday by a Casey County Circuit Court jury.

    A Casey County man was injured and hospitalized after accidentally shooting himself outside his residence on Saturday night.
