    The Casey County Grand Jury convened Feb. 2 and indicted 13 individuals for felony charges, with seven being charged with methamphetamine crimes.

    Like many people on the night of Feb. 5, and into the early-morning hours of Feb. Bill and Beverly Pierce were aware that severe storms were heading toward Casey County.

  • Police News Feb. 7

    Scott C Mcgee, 47, of Liberty, was charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place and disorderly conduct in the 2nd degree. According to the police citation, officers received a complaint from Montgomery St. and upon arrival found McGee “fussing and cussing and outraged and smelled of alcohol.” Officers noted this was the second time they were at the address on a complaint. He has a court date at 9 a.m. Feb. 8.

    Brandi Mae Keith elected to proceed to circuit court via a “rocket docket.” She is charged with DUI 1st offense, no license, possession of a controlled substance 2nd degree (drug unspecified), possession of a controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense (methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.

    Michaela N Dudgeon pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense (methamphetamine). She was sentenced to three years, probated five years. Charges for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed.

    Week of Feb. 6, 2008

    A Casey County couple, who have remained in jail since their arrest more than two months ago for a 2005 robbery, were indicted.

    Kathy Goode found out the roof had blown off the Sunrise Café, a victim of ferocious winds that accompanied a line of severe thunderstorms that blew through Kentucky from north to south.

    The Casey County Extension District filed a civil suit against the man who designed a building for them, as well as three firms involved with the construction of the building.

    Ryan Williams, 41, of Danville, was charged with theft by deception including cold checks under $500, after he allegedly issued a check to a Liberty store for $360.34, knowing it would not be honored.

    Bradley W Poynter, 43, of Waynesburg, was charged with theft by deception including cold checks under $500 after he allegedly passed a check to a store for $245.01, when he had no account with the bank when the check was issued

    Chris D Cundiff was found guilty of fleeing or evading police second degree (motor vehicle). He was sentenced to a fine and six months in jail

    Jamie Floyd Harris pleaded not guilty to carrying a concealed deadly weapon. The pre trail conference is scheduled for Feb. 6.

    Cindy R Lynn pleaded guilty to theft by unlawful taking or displacement shoplifting under $50. Sentenced to five days in jail with two to serve and a fine.
