    A Casey County teenage missing for three months was listed with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Deputy Chad Weddle said the information regarding Meagan Pendergraft, 17, was listed with the national organization on Friday.

  • Casey County Grand Jury indicts 18, most for theft or drugs


    The Casey County Grand Jury met March 12 and indicted 18 individuals for crimes, most of whom were charged for crime involving theft or drugs.

    Ronnie Steven Means, 39, of Bethelridge, was indicted on two counts. They were possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, first offense (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to his indictment, he was found to be in possession of the drug and paraphernalia on Dec. 21, 2017.

    Micah Scott Renfro, 27, of Liberty, was cited for assault fourth degree domestic violence with minor injury. According to his citation, police responded to an address on KY 1547 and found that Renfro and his girlfriend Jennifer Lynn Sims were involved in an altercation. They were both arrested. Renfro had bruises and cuts on his chest and hands and “quite a bit of blood” on his hands.

    Johnny Ray Rodger’s 2016 charges of DUI, terroristic threatening 3rd degree, resisting arrest, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, disorderly conduct, possession of an open beverage container in a motor vehicle and menacing, were dropped after a motion to dismiss for failure to indict.

    Woodford Sheene, Jr., pleaded not guilty to first degree possession of a controlled substance drug unspecified first offense, and trafficking in a controlled substance first degree first offense (methamphetamine). He has a pretrial conference April 9 at 1 p.m.

    The Senate passed a bill that, if it were to become law, would require school districts in Kentucky to create a policy on how to deal with bullies.

    Despite missing eight full days and three half-days of school this year for various reasons, students, and teachers in the Casey County school district enjoyed a full, three-day spring break vacation, school officials say.

A certain tract of land, subject however to the exclusions as set herein, said lands lying and being in Casey County on the waters of Green River in said County for $30,000.

    Brandi Keith pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct second degree. She was sentenced to 10 days in jail with credit for time served.

    Erica P Lemons pleaded guilty to assault fourth degree domestic violence no visible injury and public intoxication of a controlled substance (excluding alcohol). She was given credit for time served and has a fine of $215.50 due in six months.

    Corey M McCawley pleaded not guilty to possession of marijuana. He has a pretrial conference March 15.

    Joseph K Padgett, 26, of Liberty, was cited for misdemeanor criminal littering. According to his citation he threw garbage on private property Dec. 1, 2017, while he was aiding and abetting another person.

    Brandon Poff, 27, of Liberty, was cited on two counts of theft by deception including cold checks under $500. According to his citations, he issued a check for $42.16 on March 24, 2017, and another for $60 on Dec. 17, 2017. Both were returned for insufficient funds and no payment was made in 10 days after receiving notic.
