    Marilyn Coffey, a retired Casey County educator with 28 years of experience, won the seat of School board member for District 5 yesterday in more than a 2-to-1 advantage over her opponent, Stacie Wilkerson.

    A large number of voters hit the polls in Casey County as local precinct officials said early Tuesday afternoon that voters were turning out in record numbers to decide who will win contests from the nation scene to the local level.

    Week of Oct. 29, 2008

    Voters in Liberty, Casey County and across the nation were getting ready to go to the polls that next Tuesday, to cast their ballots for candidates ranging from President of the United States to the Liberty City Council.

    If it’s Halloween, it must be tax time, at least in Casey County. The county’s 2008 property tax bills were heading out Wednesday according to Marvine Crutcher, a deputy in Sherriff Jerry Coffman’s office who is in charge of the tax bills.

    Asia L. Tucker pleaded guilty to criminal trespassing third degree and public intoxication of a controlled substance. She was sentenced to a fine of $265.50 due in six months.

    Shannon Snow pleaded guilty to assault fourth degree minor injury. She was sentenced to 28 days in jail conditionally discharged if one year no new further violations of law. She will serve on weekend in jail and will reported for it on Oct. 26.

Gillock and Terri Ellen Gillock of Liberty to Terry Lynn Unruh and Raquel Dawn Unruh of Liberty, a certain tract or parcel of land lying on the waters of Mason Creek on the east side of the mason creek county road approximately one fourth mile north of the junction with Henson Ridge Road in the Cantown area of Casey County for $38,500.

  • Casey County Indictments


    Daphne Mae Crowe, 43, of Liberty, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, third offense (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and no operator’s license. According to the indictment, Crowe knowingly and unlawfully possessed methamphetamine on Aug. 19 with the intent of use that violated KRS 218A. She also knowingly and unlawfully possessed marijuana on the same date, while driving with no operator’s license.

    Joshua Dwight Gamble had his case for possession of a controlled substance first degree, first offense (methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia buy/possess, possession of a controlled substance third degree (drug unspecified) and reckless driving sent to the Casey County Grand Jury.

    Joshua Russell Smith pleaded not guilty to DUI first offense and operating on a suspended/revoked operator’s license. He has a pretrial hearing scheduled for Jan. 3.
