    William ED Bullock III was sentenced to seven years for trafficking a controlled substance first-degree first offense (methamphetamine) and persistent felony offender second degree.

    Misty D. Bernard was sentenced to ten years, probated five for trafficking a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

    Emma H. Bailey was sentenced three years for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia buy/possess and bail jumping first degree.

    Week of June 18, 2008

    A local building, used to house auctions and for storage, was completely lost after fire left it and its contents destroyed. The building, located on Ky. 70 East near Green River, is owned by James A. Hines of Cincinnati, Ohio. However, Vernon Grider Jr. of Liberty used it for storage and often held auctions inside. Grider said the last auction was held there a couple months ago.

    Lauren B. Thomas pleaded guilty to speeding 26 MPH over/greater and driving on a suspended license second offense. She was sentenced to 15 days to serve and $150 in fines. It will be conditionally discharged if one year no new violation of law. She is to provide proof of alcohol/drug assessment form Adanta and follow the recommendations.

    Melissa Carol Coplay pleaded guilty to theft by unlawful taking or deception including cold checks under $500. She was sentenced to five days suspended if paid in full by Sept. 6.

    Belinda Jean Spears was sentenced to 5 years for trafficking a controlled substance first degree, first offense (methamphetamine), DUI first offense and failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security.

    Gregory J Sallee was sentence to 7 years for possession of a controlled substance first degree, first offense (methamphetamine), burglary second degree, and theft by unlawful taking all others over $500 but under $10,000.

    Week of June 11, 2008

    A wireless telecommunications company with a Liberty office was fined by the state and ordered to stop selling stock while also dealing with financial woes and some local employee layoffs. Voice, Video and Data Systems, Inc., headquartered in Elizabethtown, originally came to Liberty the prior year, presenting a plan to bring wireless broadband, voice-over-Internet protocol, cellular service and satellite and Internet-protocol television to Casey County. The Liberty office held its grand opening on Sept. 28, 2007.

    Shauna Onah Traylor, 40, of Lancaster, was arrested for criminal trespassing second degree. According to the arrest report, police found her inside a storage unit that was owned and rented by someone else. Police stated Traylor had no reason to believe she had the right to be in the storage unit.
