It’s that time of year when all of us old fogies (and some of the young ones) are dragging out the empty canning jars to be washed and made ready to be filled. There are even some who enjoy filling those empties with the bounty of the season. I’m one of them.

There is nothing more pleasurable, in my opinion, than getting some of the family together over the hot summer days to can and put goodies in the freezer. It has usually been the female members of my family but occasionally some of the male members pitch in.
