Pros and cons of zoning

-A A +A
By Charlie VanLeuven

Casey County does not have countywide zoning. The City of Liberty has zoning laws, but not a planning and zoning commission.

I believe there are benefits and drawbacks to having planning and zoning from my six years experience covering different planning and zoning issues.

Countywide planning and zoning would set forth areas, or zones, describing the current use, and projected best use, of the land. It would delineate where the county expects agricultural activity to continue, where industrial factories should locate, and where it expects residential growth to occur.
