Pamida robbed
Police still searching for suspect

Liberty's Pamida store was robbed around noon Wednesday with the thief getting away with an estimated $500.
As of Thursday morning, police were still searching for the driver of a late model white Nissan Maxima, who was seen fleeing the scene.
No one was hurt in the incident, and police praised cashier Renee Pittman for remaining calm.

Family searching for runaway teen, baby

A Casey County teenager missing for three months is now listed with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Deputy Chad Weddle said the information regarding Meagan Pendergraft, 17, was listed with the national organization on Friday.
Pendergraft and her 8-month-old baby daughter, Alexis (who was 5 months old at the time) were last seen on Dec. 20, 2007, according to Pendergraft’s aunt, Sheila Simpson.

Commonwealth Cleanup Week now under way

State and county officials are urging citizens to clean up their acts this week.
Commonwealth Cleanup Week, in its 10th year, began on Sunday and will continue all week (March 23-29). This week is set aside to encourage individuals as well as groups and organizations to clean up roadways, parks and other public areas.


Downtown Liberty may get a facelift

Courthouse Square could get a face lift in the near future if a project initiated by the Economic Development Authority of Liberty-Casey County is funded.
A Streetscape Enhancement project that would reconstruct sidewalks, pavement and landscaping, and move or upgrade some utilities would give downtown Liberty a new look and preserve its historic character.
