Severe storms cause widespread flooding

For the second time in a week, Casey County was hammered Tuesday night by severe storms that packed high winds and sparked numerous severe thunderstorm and even tornado warnings.
The storms were part of a deadly system that spread across seven states, leaving several people dead, including seven in two western Kentucky counties.

Couple indicted in 2005 robbery

A Casey County couple who have remained in jail since their arrest more than two months ago for a 2005 robbery have been indicted.
Travis Lee Goodin, 36, and his wife, Adriel Marie Goodin, 25, of 5011 Casey Creek Road, were indicted Thursday by a Casey County grand jury. Each was named in indictments for first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary.


Extension District files suit over new building

The Casey County Extension District has filed a civil suit against the man who designed a building for them, as well as three firms involved with the construction of the building.
The suit was filed Thursday in Casey Circuit Court by J. Hadden Dean with the law firm Sheehan, Barnett, Hayes, Dean and Pennington of Danville. Named as defendants are architect Rodney Wright of 2722 Woodrum Ridge Road, Liberty; Wagan, LLC, d/b/a Thermocore Panel Systems of Mooresville, Ind.; Metal Works Fabrication LLC of Shepherdsville; and H&H Home Improvements Inc. of Liberty.


Men who broke into Walnut Hill Elm. sentenced

Two men who broke into the construction site of Walnut Hill Elementary in January 2007 have been sentenced.
Greg Thomas, 25, and Billy W. Shearer Jr., 27, both of Russell Springs, pleaded guilty to those thefts and others in Casey Circuit Court on Oct. 22. They were formally sentenced Jan. 28 by Circuit Judge James G. Weddle.
