Separate trials granted in school bullying case
First one is scheduled for July 7

The 13 people named as defendants in a lawsuit filed nearly two years ago by five Casey County High School students have been granted separate trials.
Circuit Judge James G. Weddle granted the motion for separate trials on Feb. 1, which was filed by William A. Hoback, a Louisville attorney representing 11 of the defendants.

Seventh officer hired for LPD
Rainwater brings police force back to full staff

With the addition of a new full-time police officer, the Liberty Police Department now is fully-staffed.
Aaron Rainwater of Campbellsville joined the department on Feb. 15, and brings more than five years in adult corrections experience at the Marion Adjustment Center and more than two years in juvenile justice at the Adair Youth Development Center in Columbia.

Freezing rain and icy conditions made travel on Casey County roadways hazardous on Thursday, causing several vehicles to slide off of the roads and the local school district to dismiss classes early.
Mobile home destroyed in fire
Arson suspected in separate blaze

Three structure fires last week left a mobile home and vacant house destroyed and another home damaged.
The first of the three occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 19 when Brush Creek Fire Department was called to the home of Chester Maddox on Butchertown Road in northern Casey County.
