Parents, students wait hours in line for annual bash

Even though students in Casey County still have two weeks of summer vacation to enjoy, nearly 700 people lined up last week to prepare for the year ahead.
Classes in Casey County schools will resume on Aug. 14, with Aug. 13 being the first day of school for teachers. Students already are gearing up for a new school year and a new school, for some.

Summer days are fading, and Casey County students will soon be heading back to class.
The start of a new school year is less than two weeks away as teachers are scheduled to report to their respective schools on Aug. 13, while the first day for students is Aug. 14.
The county will have fewer school buildings this year as the elementaries have been reduced to three.

The Casey County Sheriff's Office is hoping that technology will help lead them to the person, or persons, who has been vandalizing and robbing soft drink machines around the county.
The department released the accompanying photo of a man caught on video robbing soft drink machines at Crockett Trail General Store in the early-morning hours of June 10.
Sports tickets going up at CCHS
Football, basketball go up to $5; all other sports will be $4

The Casey County High School athletics department has adjusted its ticket prices for the 2007-08 season. Student and adult admission prices for all home football and basketball games will increase to $5. The remaining sports (volleyball, baseball, softball, etc.) will be $4.
Season passes will increase to $55 for adults and $25 for students. These will be honored at all regular season home games that charge admission.
