Galilean Home founder dies
Sandy Tucker, who co-founded Galilean Ministries with her husband, Jerry, lost her battle with cancer on Monday. Tucker, 62, died at the St. Joseph's Hospital East in Lexington.

After more than 38 years of dedicating her life to serving God and His children, Sandy Tucker, co-founder of the Galilean Children's Home, died on Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital East in Lexington. She was 62.
Tucker lost her battle with ovarian cancer after more than two years of frequent hospitalizations. But her life, illness and death were met with strong emotions and prayer from family and friends, her husband, Jerry Tucker, said.

Water main break adds to county's water woes
Casey one of 61 counties in water shortage watch

While recovering from a county-wide treated water shortage last week, and after being declared one of 61 Kentucky counties placed under a water shortage watch on Friday, Casey County suffered another blow this weekend to its water supply.
A 10" water main, located on Ky. 70 East about .2 mile from Casey County High School, broke, losing a significant amount of the city's treated water.
Garrett named Liberty Police Chief
James Bunch hired as new officer

After a somber few weeks, the City of Liberty officially named a new police chief on June 11.
Steven Garrett, the 26-year-old former assistant chief of the force, was introduced with the new title at a special-called meeting of Liberty City Council.
The appointment came following the death of Police Chief Ron Whited on June 5.
Garrett, who has been with the LPD for about five years, said he is honored to accept the position, but added that the department will miss Whited's leadership.
Girl falls 30 feet into ravine after
losing her grip on swing

A fun trip with friends took a bad turn Thursday night when an Ohio girl had to be flown to a Lexington hospital after she fell about 30 feet into a ravine.
Alexis Zappia, 14, of Dayton, Ohio, had been in Casey County all week with a group of 18 students and seven adults from her Catholic high school. The group had been doing mission work and visiting the families of Nathan Dunlap and Jerome Lange in the South Fork area.
Site work to be rebid on new hospital

The bids are going back to the drawing board.
Members of the Casey County Hospital District's board of trustees weren't pleased with the bids submitted for the site work on the new Casey County Hospital and instructed the project's senior program manager to rebid.
Site work bids were opened on June 6, but none of the bidders bid the complete package. And that raised a red flag with the board.
