Thieves hit Walnut Hill Elem.

site for second time

By Brittany Johnson

The construction site of Walnut Hill Elementary School, located on U.S. 127 South, has been the target of burglars not once, but twice in just a few weeks.
Sheriff's Deputy Bob Weddle investigated the most recent incident after being called about 7:30 a.m. Monday, when construction crews arrived and realized the site had been visited over the weekend.
In both incidents, copper piping was stolen. But this time, instead of finding uninstalled copper materials missing like the time before, the construction team found that copper piping that already had been installed in the school building had been taken out of the walls, Weddle said.

By Brittany Johnson
Staff Writer

The numbers are in and it looks as if Casey County Schools are taking the right steps toward reaching a drug-free status.
Dale Wilson, Director of Pupil Personnel, presented the number of infractions related to drug, alcohol and controlled substances, tobacco and smoking that occurred in all Casey County schools for both the 2004-05 and 2005-06 school years at the Jan. 8 school board meeting. And the numbers don't lie.
