Liberty city councilmen agreed on July 25 to buy 11.087 acres of land on Ob Wilson Road for $24,000. The property was bought from Chad and Dawn Michelle Roy-Begley. It was the second time they had owned the property after having bought it back from the people they originally sold it to.

The days of playing in the swimming pool, riding bikes, and sleeping in will soon be over for another summer as Casey County students head back to class next week.
Wednesday, Aug. 9, marks the start of a new school year and many students in grades preschool through six were getting a head start on that Thursday night as they attended a "Back to School Bash" at the Central Kentucky AG/EXPO Center.
The event drew nearly 700 people, who were in line long before the doors were set to open at 4 p.m.

The race for District 3 school board member will feature at least two candidates as two men have filed their intentions to seek the seat.
Dr. Michael Turner, 32, of 248 River View Drive, Liberty, filed his candidacy papers on Monday, while Larry D. Bell, 45, of 7014 West KY 70, Liberty, declared his intentions on Saturday.
The District 3 seat is currently held by Mike Davis, who is the board's vice chairman. He announced recently that he would not seek another term.
