By Linda Carmicle
Staff Writer

A play written and performed by a former United States Marine, who is also a self-proclaimed homosexual, drew protest from hundreds of Christian activists last week.
Jeff Key performed "The Eyes of Babylon" at the Youth/Community Center at Gateway Park on Feb. 7. His play is based on a journal he kept while serving as a Marine in Iraq. The play also includes Key's personal feelings on the war.

5-inch snowfall blankets county

By Linda Carmicle
Staff Writer

An off-and-on weekend snowfall in Casey County dropped several inches of snow, along with forcing schools to close Monday. It was the first significant snowfall of the season that caused delight in children and little inconvenience to travelers.
A mixture of snow and rain began falling Friday night. By Saturday morning, the snow began to accumulate with bursts of snow showers throughout the day. Residents were prepared for the approaching weather by clearing the grocery of bread, milk and other staples to carry them through.
