Move to Jones Park now in Progress

New school will open Jan. 9

By Donna Carman
Editor

Joyce Goodlett was astounded when she did the math. During two days' time, students from both Garrett and Middleburg brought in 3,340 armloads of items into Jones Park Elementary.
"The Middleburg students made six trips apiece and the Garrett kids made 10 apiece," she said. "That helped us so much, those kids moving that stuff in."
During the last week of classes before Christmas break, the student bodies of both schools - everyone from kindergarten through sixth grade - spent the better part of two days traveling back and forth between their old schools and their new one, helping their teachers move everything they possibly could into a new classroom.
Looking back, Goodlett, principal at Jones Park, said the idea was "one of the best we've ever had." It not only helped out the teachers with the move, but it also gave the students the first look at their new school, getting them acquainted with the facility.

Tarters buy OshKosh building

Tarter Gate of Dunnville closed on a deal Friday with Carter's Inc. to buy the 210,000-square-foot building for $1.5 million. On Tuesday, manager Keith Tarter was busy discussing remodeling plans with an engineer and taking care of other immediate concerns.
