Fires damage house, destroy mobile home

David Weddle was stretched out in his recliner, taking an afternoon nap on Friday before going to his truck-driving job.
He remembers a movie being on television when he fell asleep. He woke up to the sound of what he thought was a mouse or rat gnawing, and realized the TV was off. He thought the electricity had gone off and he dozed back off.

City, county, EDA pledge

An educational need that has been long overlooked will be available in the near future as Casey County will partner with Somerset Community College to open a campus here in the county.
Casey County Judge-Executive Ronald Wright said yesterday that he - along with Liberty Mayor Steve Sweeney, Superinten-dent Linda Hatter, and Mark Wolford, Chairman of the Liberty Economic Development Board - recently met with SCC officials and each are confident that a partnership can be reached in providing a college.

Director hired for ag/expo center

A big responsibility has been placed on the shoulders of a Greensburg woman who says she is confident that she can handle the job that will make an economic impact on Casey County.
Gena Marie McCubbins, 27, was tentatively hired at Monday night's fiscal court meeting as the director of the Central Kentucky AG/EXPO Center. The hiring is on a six-month temporary basis and salary negotiations are still in progress. Her job will primarily be recruiting and scheduling events at the center.
