  • Actions from Casey County Circuit Court

    The following cases were heard before Judge Judy Vance Murphy Sept. 25:

    — Marvin Jeff Lee, charged with murder in July 2104, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of second-degree manslaughter and DUI. Sentencing is Nov. 13.

    — Jamie Allen Wethington pleaded guilty to public intoxication of a controlled substance and first-degree first offense possession of a controlled substance meth.

    Sentencing is Nov. 13.

    — Jamie L. Sharp pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. Sentencing is Nov. 13.

  • Higdon: Money is only way to save pension system

    A packed house of school teachers, retired teachers, current and retired county and state workers greeted two legislators Thursday who came to town to hear concerns about the state’s pension crisis.

    Sen. Jimmy Higdon, R-Lebanon, and Rep. Daniel Elliott, R-Forkland, spoke to a standing room only crowd at the Casey County Judicial Center.

    Higdon, the elder statesman of the two, spoke for about 15 minutes and then took a variety of questions.
