• Jason Tackett joins McKinney-Brown staff

    McKinney-Brown Funeral Home recently welcomed new staff member Jason Tackett, who’ll be involved in all aspects of the business. 

    Born and reared in Casey County, Tackett and his family live in the Clementsville area. Tackett began working for McKinney-Brown in February, but knew from an early age that he wanted a career in this field of work.

  • Hatter opens barber shop in Liberty

    Jamie Hatter has one chair in his new barber shop and he wants it to be where customers are the most satisfied.

    “I don’t want anybody to get up until they are pleased with their haircut,” Hatter said, adding that he opened the shop in January at U.S.127 South adjacent to H&R Block and El Mexicano Restaurant.

    A native of the Yosemite area of Casey County, Hatter, 38, is the son of Dale Hatter and Cindy McFarland. 

    He also has two children, Malachi Hatter and Kizzy Hatter.

  • Hillbilly’s Country Fixin’s dishing it up right

    Years ago, when someone went to a “fillin’ station,” it meant buying gas for the car and getting something to eat, usually a burger or blue plate special. 

    “That’s what I want people to know. Truck drivers can fill their trucks and their bellies at the same time,” said Billea Wilson, owner of Hillbilly’s Country Fixin’s restaurant located inside Liberty Shell Mart on Wallace Wilkinson Boulevard.

  • Home businesses partner to create Liberty’s Christmas Carnival

    Several local home businesses have partnered to open a seasonal retail store in downtown Liberty.  Christmas Carnival is located at 12 Hustonville St. next to the Sugar Rush Cafe and will offer a variety of gift and novelty items.

    Karrell Wilkerson came up with the idea and has taken a leadership role in the business.  The store will consist of vendors that will set up a booth offering different items for sale.  There are eight committed vendors so far, selling everything from candles to Christmas ornaments.

  • New CVS adds to business landscape on U.S. 127

    CVS Pharmacy opened its doors to customers on Sunday, Nov. 3.  The pharmacy is located at 397 North Wallace Wilkinson Blvd. in Liberty.  

    Due to construction in the parking lot along Trammel Street as well as to the drive thru,  the ribbon cutting ceremony has been postponed until Nov. 8.

    “It’s definitely more than just a pharmacy,” said CVS Manager Jan Atwood.  “We have just about anything you need and we do run specials.”

  • New doctors join Casey County Primary Care

     Two new health care providers have joined the staff at Casey County Primary Care recently – but one has been here before.

    Dr. Jared Wilson, who practiced at CCPC from 1998-2002, began seeing patients locally on Aug. 5, and Bentley O’Dell, APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse), opened his door to patients on Aug. 1.

  • Maloney named manager of the year

    Scott Blair is proud of the grocery store that he owns and he’s thankful to have award-winning employees on his staff.

    Blair, owner of Liberty IGA on Wallace Wilkinson Boulevard, said that Paul Malone, manager of the store, recently received the 2013 Manager of the Year award at the Laurel Grocery Company Management Conference and Food Show in Cincinnati.

    Laurel Grocery Company supplies stores in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Illinois, Blair said.

    Rick Wesley, owner of RadioLibertyKY.com, says that for people living in and around Liberty and Dunn-ville, GetSetGo offers a fast Internet connection at a very reasonable price.

    “This is a company developed by Bluegrass Cellular and as to my understanding, it’s the only wireless 4G Internet service here,” Wesley said.
