I was a child of the generation that spanned the late 1940s through the early 1960s. I loved (and still do) the songs of Frank Sinatra, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Joan Baez, Tommy Edwards, Judy Collins, the Everly Brothers, and quite a few more. Elvis was in there, too.
Somewhere in the 1980s came this larger-than-life voice. It was a voice with power, precision, and beauty. That voice could ring the rafters in a cathedral or a domed football stadium. That voice belonged to Whitney Houston.
