Teen receives $14,500 in claim against county

By Donna Carman

A lawsuit filed by a Casey County teenager against Casey County Fiscal Court and a county employee has been settled and dismissed.

Casey Circuit Judge James G. Weddle signed an agreed order on Sept. 28, settling and dismissing the suit filed by Kayla Buis in February 2008.

According to the agreement, Buis will be paid $14,500 as a result of her involvement in a Dec. 20, 2006 accident in which she was a passenger in a vehicle struck by a Casey County Road Department truck.
