Sports Talk: Another year passes with no Triple Crown winner

Next year will be year 35 since the last winner, Affirmed, brought home the crown in 1978. It’s not that there haven’t been “almosts,” like this year. Eleven horses have won the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness since ’78 but then fallen short when the June race arrives. Seven other horses have won a combination of two of the three races.
I got to spend a good amount of time with a close college friend this weekend whose life and career is dominated by the horse world.
