A Casey County man died from injuries he received in a one-vehicle crash during the weekend.
John Frank Parton, 58, of Liberty, died Sunday at Casey County Hospital.
According to a press release from the Kentucky State Police, Trooper Adam Likins stated that about 8:20 p.m., Parton was traveling west on Parton Road in a 2004 Chevrolet truck when he lost control of the vehicle, overcorrected, and struck a tree. Parton was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to the Casey County Hospital where he was pronounced dead by the Casey County Coroner, the release states.
Parton was widely known for his work ethic and skills as a brick and stone mason.
“He was a good man and a hard worker,” said Sheriff Jerry Coffman, who had known Parton for years.
Local contractor Kenny Blevins said that he was well familiar with Parton’s work as a mason, having used him in the construction of houses.
“I went to high school with him and he started right after that. He’s been a prominent brick layer ever since. He was an excellent brick layer. I would recommend him to anybody,” said Blevins.
