Christmas can be found at the end of the yellow brick road as Dorothy, Toto, the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion will be looking for “Christmas in the Land of Oz” this holiday season.
Featuring 45 students, including cast and crew, the 21åst Century Community Learning Center drama program will present the play in two performances set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at the Casey County Middle School gym.
According to Rita Sweeney, director of the 21st Century Community Learning Center, the play will feature many of the same actors and characters from the drama club’s spring production of “The Wizard of Oz” along with a few additional characters and cast changes. The actors range from pre-school through high school age, along with one college student.
Produced by special arrangement with Contemporary Drama Service, and written by Tamara Tudor, the plot centers on the Wicked Witch of the Northwest, who has stolen Christmas. And it’s up to Dorothy and her friends to return it to Munchkinland.
Admission to “Christmas in the Land of Oz” is $3 at the door.
