The body of a Casey County woman reported missing since Tuesday morning has been found in Boyle County.
Casey County Emergency Management Director Rick Wesley said that rescue personnel from Casey, Boyle and Marion counties found Patricia Ann Moddrell, 78, about 5 p.m. Wednesday lying outside her car that had crashed into a tree off of Ky. 243 in Boyle County.
“Her car left the roadway and went down an embankment and hit a tree,” Wesley said, adding that a large limb fell on the car partially obstructing the view from the road.
“People had driven past where her car was — the foliage was so thick and with the limb on the car it really couldn't be seen from the road,” Wesley said.
Additionally, Wesley said that it was rescue personnel on ATVs riding the dry creek bed who spotted Moddrelle's vehicle.
Rescuers found Moddrelle lying next to her car, possibly indicating that she was ejected after the crash, Wesley said.
According to a statement from Public Information Officer William Gregory with Kentucky State Police Post 15 in Columbia, the Boyle County Coroner, Dr. Don Hamner, pronounced Modrelle dead as a result of natural causes.
Wesley said that KSP notified him of the missing woman earlier Wednesday morning and then asked for search and rescue assistance just after noon.
