2011 GYE winners announced

This year’s Growing Young Entrepreneurs competition was held on Sept. 15 at the Kentucky Tech Casey County ATC.
Students who were interested in starting their own business wrote a business plan and made a presentation to several local business leaders and educators.
Winners in the GYE presentation are Ryan Martin, first; Ali Thompson, second; and Logan Hooten, third.
Martin was awarded $500, a laptop, and a mentoring from a Kentucky Entrepreneurial Coaches Institute (KECI) coach.
Thompson was awarded $300 and mentoring from a KECI coach, and Hooten was awarded $100 and mentoring from a KECI coach.
Winners are to use their award to make purchases necessary to start their business.
The competition was a joint effort of the Liberty/Casey County Economic Development Association and the Kentucky Entrepreneurial Coaches Institute. Individuals interested in starting their own business may contact coaches Todd Hoskins, Anita Skaggs, Ricky Cannon and John Gossage.
Presentation of the awards was Oct. 5 at the Casey County ATC. These students will also deliver their presentations at the KECI Alumni Reunion on Oct. 25 at the Wayne County Extension Office.
