Copper thieves named in 41 indictments;
Grand jury also indicts 6
By Donna Carman
Editor
Four men recently charged with the copper thefts at the Walnut Hill Elementary School construction site have been indicted by a Casey County grand jury.
Billy Wayne Shearer Jr., 26, and John Dearing, 33, both of 451 Wayne Road, Russell Springs; Greg A. Thomas, 24, of 2925 Lakeway Drive, Russell Springs; and Ranney Coleman Dykes, 23, address not listed, were named in 41 indictments Thursday charging them with burglary and numerous other offenses.
The bulk of the indictments stem from an incident on Jan. 21 or 22 where the four allegedly entered the school construction site on U.S. 127 South, where they took an Echo cut-off saw belonging to D.W. Wilburn, the project's general construction manager; copper belonging to FREI Plumbing; and copper belonging to Peters Pipe & Boiler.
